About this property

Welcome to New Inn Hotel

Located on a narrow cobbled street in the centre of Clovelly village, The New Inn Hotel occupies a classic 17th-century building just a short walk from the harbour along Bideford Bay. The traditional pub atmosphere is complemented by cosy rooms, some of which offer bay views, while the surrounding area provides easy access to beaches, coastal paths, and nearby attractions like The Milky Way Adventure Park and Hartland Abbey.

The property functions as a hotel, bar, and restaurant, with familiar dishes served in a relaxed setting. Guests appreciate the combination of a historic feel and thoughtfully renovated interiors, including individually decorated rooms that blend period style with modern comfort. Free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, and free parking are available, along with pet-friendly and kid-friendly options, making it suitable for a variety of visitors. The hotel is smoke-free but does not provide accessible rooms, a pool, or a fitness centre.

Guest feedback highlights the welcoming and attentive service, with many noting the quality of the restaurant's food and the inviting atmosphere of the pub. While most rooms meet expectations and are well maintained, some guests report that room descriptions—especially those advertising sea views—may not always align with what is actually seen from the window, sometimes requiring stepping onto a shared balcony to catch a glimpse of the sea. The hotel is also praised for being very dog-friendly, which is a notable advantage for visitors travelling with pets.

Check-in is from 15:00 with check-out at 10:00. The location is convenient for exploring the village and surrounding coastline, making it a practical choice for travellers seeking a traditional setting with modern amenities in a peaceful yet accessible part of Devon.

Location and staff absolutely perfect. The room we booked however wasn't at all what we expected. Mainly because it wasn't even remotely similar to the photo on their website but also due to the fact that when a room is listed 'with sea view' you expect to see the sea when looking out of your window, instead we had to step out onto a balcony (which was shared with two other rooms) and in the distance looking in the direction of said rooms you could see the sea. Very disappointed

The hotel is under new management and everyone in town couldn’t wait to tell us how happy there are to have them there. They have renovated all the rooms and the pub. The rooms are beautifully appointed and have maintained the charm of the town. The service was excellent. Our hosts did everything to make our stay comfortable including making a delicious hot take away breakfast when our plans suddenly changed and we had to leave early in the morning.

The new owners, Theresa and Ian are bringing this Arts & Crafts hotel back to life. It is being sympathetically restored, with individually decorated in period style. Some rooms have balconies, some sea views. The bar serves a very good pint of Guinness and generous home cooked meals. Breakfast is amazing, which will keep you going for your coastal walk. Very dog friendly which is a bonus, Taffy loved it, and the sausages. Do visit, you won't be disappointed.

Marvelous is the perfect word to describe our experience at The New Inn. Beautifully appointed, perfectly situated in the middle of the village, and striking exterior and interior. Yet, so very comfortable! The New Inn welcomes guests with open arms. The new owners could not have been more generous, hospitable, earnest in their desire to make you feel right at home in their new space. The rooms have been completely renovated at a high standard, and are cozy, attractive and gracious. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are lovely. A full English breakfast plus is served every morning. You will not leave hungry. You can find the Southwest coastal path just steps away. The beach is a few steps below the hotel and the visitor center a few in the opposite direction. The hotel is right in the middle of everything. Yet, it’s quite quiet as well. You can hear the roar of the sea at night if you wish. And, no need to leave the hotel for food. They offer a full dinner with new dining options every night in the restaurant. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel. I can’t wait to return soon.

We had an amazing weekend at the New Inn Hotel, couldn't have asked for better service or hospitality. John and Coral were amazing! Some places are dog friendly and the new inn is super dog friendly. Our room was clean and had everything we could need. We ate in the restaurant and left satisfied. Thank you for making us feel very welcome
